PERSONAL
PROJECT
On my 8th birthday my parents gave me the gift they always
wanted me to have. They sat me down with sparkling eyes and
eager faces told me that they were giving me a violin.
That fateful day was the beginning of my violin career.
For the next 10 years I practiced strictly classical music for multiple hours a day, 7 days a week. And if that wasn't miserable enough, I was forced to perform
at all the big events.
By the time I got to High School, I was participating in multiple orchestras and preparing for several
competitions in the metro Atlanta area. My parents took my violin career very seriously, as you can see from the professional photos that were taken of me and my violin.
When I left for college I left my violin at home. I haven't picked up my violin for 4 years, until now.
For my personal project I wanted to create the love and appreciation for the violin that I never had. The violin channeled my inner art and creativity
without me even knowing. Since art and design have
been such a big part of my life these past 4 years
I wanted to combine the two.
I grabbed my violin out of storage, found paint colors that best represented me and played each classical song with a different paint color on my bow.
I then smashed my violin into pieces.
I then smashed my violin into pieces.
And then put my violin back together.
I took something that I hated so much growing up and combined it with my passion for art and design to create something new and meaningful. I can now say that I truly love my violin.
